Chapter 13 Anticipatory Writing response #1

1. Many people have phobias. Fear of heights is one of the most common. Are you afraid of high places, or do you know anyone who is? What about other phobias – do you have any?

Yes. I'm afraid of certain types of heights. When I went to Hawaiian Falls during the summer with a friend of me and my brother's, we went on this really scary slide that starts out as a tunnel then it drops you about my guess 50ft to the ground. Then it just let go into a straight line down 1 inch off the ground.

I was horrified and ready to go back on it though, because it was fun. And that's what I have a phobia of. Certain heights, and certain spiders. And don't get me started on that.

Chapter 10 Writing Prompt

It would have to be a seashell that when you blow into it, it reads your mind, and it does what ever your minds is thinking of doing.

The reason I want the driving age to 13, is because then we would be able to drive ourselves wherever ,whenever. And I want my own car. And it's a 50% chance that they'll even pass a law like that.

Chapter 2 - Anticipatory Prompt 1

1. Have you ever had a teacher you wanted to do well for? If so, what made
you respect that teacher’s opinion? If you can’t think of a teacher like
that, what would a teacher have to be like to make you respect them?

Yes. And that teacher is Mr.Smith.
Because he encourages me to do and be better.
And he teaches us the right way to do things.
Not the wrong way. In Math, he taught us to this and that
the easier way. And he taught to say,"How'd I do that?!"
And that helps me in everything. And he is the COOLEST TEACHER EVER!!!!
And he teaches us about everything in Technology. Plus we learn about some of his childhood and stuff like that. And he's pretty funny. And he makes me want to learn.

2. What do you know about learning disabilities such as ADHD or dyslexia? Do you
know anyone who has a learning disability? Do you think a person with a learning
disability should receive more time to complete tests or less homework than a
person without a learning disability?

my response: I have a friend named Gabriella who has dyslexia. I can tell you what she feels like. Because I go over her house on certain days after school. On the 1st day of school she told me,"I can't wait to see my teacher." I told her, "Well good luck w/ your teacher." Then we left for class. 3 days later... She came home crying and saying,"Olivia, I just got a new teacher." I then said,"What do you mean?" Then she said,"I got transferred to another class." I was shocked once she said that. I then asked,"Why?!" "I don't know." So we told her mom and she had a fit. She said to us,"Do you know why you transferred?" "No." "Well let me call the school and see what I can do." She called and hung up in just 10 minutes. She said, "Well I'll go to school and see why you got transferred." So she said like 4 minutes later... "The reason is because of your dyslexia, and their schedule." "Well ok.""I just didn't want to change classes."
"Well I'm sorry." Then we went home for dinner. That night they were cooking chicken fried rice. Ooooooohhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! That was good. But the point is... it's been a struggle for her. Kids make fun of her, etc. So I know what it's like for someone to have dyslexia.

3. In Ancient times, the Greeks had gods for many important forces in their lives --
the sea, thunderstorms, farming, music, medicine, poetry, archery, etc. Why do
you think they imagined many different gods rather than just one? Would this
make life more confusing or less confusing?

my response: I think it would make life harder because then when I need something important, and I have forgotten which god to contact, I have no idea what I have to do just to get what I need. So that is my response.

5. Do you believe in anything that science can’t prove -- such as magic, or ghosts, or
creatures like the Loch Ness monster? Why or why not?

my response: No I do not believe in magic. Because I pretty much know how they do it, and I think it's baloney. But ghosts I so believe in. Because in Pennsylvania I wasn't actually there but I was watching TV when this show about the most haunted ghost places ever came on on the National Geographic channel, when they said "Revolutionary War soldiers used to stay here when they were wounded.""Some even died here." And I was just hooked on for a long time. When it comes to "Nessie" I so believe in her. Sightings have been reported, and I love to study her. So that is my response.

7. You have been granted one magical item of your choice. What would this item be,
and what power would it have?

my response: Probaly a ZUES STONE.
It's powers are you can get anything you want as long as you squeeze it hard enough.
And it's powers are sky like Zues'.
